Integrated Groundwater Management

About the grant

IGM-A Framework for Harnessing Big Hydrological Datasets for Integrated Groundwater Management is the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded Ground Water Management Project to develop new knowledge, tools, and solutions for groundwater resource management by utilizing observational datasets and computer models.

This project is officially started on September 1, 2020, and the project funds were transferred from NSF through a Cooperative Agreement by the middle of September, 2020

Mission

Our technical mission is to harness the power of big datasets using novel computer tools to develop robust methods and tools for integrated groundwater management framework that will provide new scientific insights and useful groundwater predictions at an unprecedented fine spatiotemporal resolution for various southeastern aquifers located in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Broader impacts of the project will include the development of a strong water workforce in the southeastern region with expertise in water resources.

Vision

The grand vision of this project is to utilize a variety of observational datasets and computer models to develop new knowledge, tools, and solutions for groundwater resource management.
